Anti-Racist Therapy for White Bodies

“Healing from white-body supremacy begins with the body-your body. But it does not end there In order to heal the collective body that is America, we also need social activism that is body centered. We cannot individualize our way out of white body supremacy. Nor can we merely strategize our way out. We need collective action- action that heals” -Resmaa Menakem, MSW, LICW, SEP, My Grandmother’s Hands

I support white bodied folks with having accountable, embodied and compassionate conversations about how white supremacy has shaped the way that we show up in the world. Racism doesn’t show up in the mind but also is held in the body as ancestral trauma. This is also true for white identified folks! I provide a container for white folks to acknowledge and name uncomfortable and painful truths about our conditioning and to observe and name how this shows up physically.

I aide folks in shifting their nervous systems away from the stuck-ness or overactivation associated with guilt, anger and shame towards regulation, where we can hold both compassion and accountability. I utilize the brilliance and wisdom of thought leaders such as Robin Di’Angelo, Resmma Menakem, Layla F Saad and Sonya Renee Taylor as well as Polyvagal Theory and somatic practices to help unwind ancestral trauma and facilitate increased alignment between one’s value system and their behavior in service of societal healing.
